Prioritize instruction that works

Every day, educators make hundreds of decisions about instruction. Great teachers are constantly monitoring and adjusting to meet the needs of the students. Leaders, give them permission to focus instruction on the strategies that are proven winners…

“Does prioritizing standards lead to prioritizing strategies? Are all essential standards equally important? (no) Are all instructional strategies equally impactful? (no) So, if we prioritize the essential standards, shouldn’t we prioritize our instructional strategies?”

Through the work of John Hattie, Robert Marzano, and others, educators have access to the answer of the question, “What instructional strategies improve learning?”. Instructional leaders, we have an obligation to educate the educators on the research, help them prioritize the strategies, and provide them the learning and support they need to be experts.

The work of education becomes more complex every year. Give yourself permission to simplify and focus!
